Today, Nick Halstead, founder of TweetMeme has unveiled a new feature on their website: Adtweets.

The idea is that advertisers integrate the TweetMeme retweet button into the advertisement. Plus advertisers can see the analytic data via TweetMeme Analytics to easily monitor the success of their campaign.

The idea is similar to Digg ads, where users can vote on advertisements just as they would with regular content. The difference here is that you are sharing an ad to your contacts via Twitter.

I'm not sure how successful this will be, because who wants to be getting advertisement from their friends? Maybe it will work as a voting mechanism where people will give a "thumbs up" to a nice interesting advertisement contents, such as video ads, in the similar fashion of Facebook's "like" feature on their ads.

What you think as a user? Would you retweet ads to your followers on Twitter?
