In a non-traditional spin on the old tradition of marketing books with a nationwide book tour, Penguin/Philomel who publish the Ranger's Apprentice series of young adult fantasy novels have sent out a decoratively wrapped mini-bus to roam the country promoting the latest novel in the series, The Siege of Macindaw.

The tour is hitting 21 cities during the months of September and October. While series author John Flanagan is staying home safe in Australia, the bus is being manned by three young actors from the Story Pirates ensemble, who do dramatic presentations based on the content of the book series. The tour and their performance are titled Escape to Araluen. The performance consists of interactive skits aimed at potential readers ages 6 and up.

This is a unique and entertaining way to market books which is bound to be much more engaging for a young audience than just meeting the author and getting him to sign a book.
