For those who do not immediately recognize the name, Carrie Prejean is the former Miss California USA beauty queen who made headlines last summer when asked about her thoughts on same-sex marriage.
Prejean’s views catapulted her straight into the (YouTube) spotlight and before too long, had her crown and title removed. According to pageant officials, she was dethroned because of a breech of contract - nothing related to her political views.
Prejean counter-sued the pageant, claiming discrimination against because of her religious stance. Before the two sides would enter court, the case was miraculously dropped after the lawyers for the pageant revealed a sex tape of the formerly crowned queen.
Not a powerful stance from a self-proclaimed devout Christian.
Like any Good Samaritan handed a coupon for 15-minutes of fame, Miss Prejean published a book and is now on the publicity circuit promoting it.
She extended her 15 minutes by a few when her recent interview on Larry King Live went wonderfully bizarre. Carrie wound up calling Larry King “inappropriate” for asking a seemingly innocent question and decided to take her microphone off during the live broadcast. All this from someone trying to promote her book.

Show Humility and Gratitude
- The reason any celebrity goes on a talk show is to promote something. If you are given the chance to present your product or service to a potential client, display humility and gratitude for the opportunity. Let them know you value their time and attention.
- There’s a saying that suggests, “People do business with those they know, like and trust.” Being a likable person is half the battle. If someone doesn’t like you, there is no way they will buy from you. Period.
- The now-famous “You’re being inappropriate” dialogue is a great example of not communicating well. Learn to say what you mean and mean what you say. Be direct, upfront and honest with the people around you.
