Hey Mr. President, How About Jobs?
While President Obama and the administration are hell bent on pushing through healthcare reform, American's are wondering if the folks in D.C. have forgotten about a little thing called jobs.
Despite messaging and PR speak from the White House that aims to ease the concerns of the public, those messages just aren't resonating.
Since January, President Obama’s job rating on the economy has held steady — steady in the crapper. Just under one-third of Americans (32%) give him positive ratings on the job he is doing on the economy while 68% give him negative ratings. In January, 31% gave him positive marks and 69% gave him negative ones.
The results, which are from March Harris Interactive poll of 2,320 adults, also found that one in five Americans (21%) believe their household’s financial situation will be better in the next six months. Almost half (47%) of those polled believe it will remain the same and 32% say it will be worse.
In January, 21% of adults also believed their household’s financial condition would be better in six months, 49% thought it would remain the same and 30% said it would get worse.
An interest cross section of the data showed that these sentiments varied depending on geographical location.
For example, southerners are the most divided as 22% believe it will be better in six months while 36% say their household’s financial condition will be worse in six months. Easterners think it will be status quo as over half (53%) say their household’s financial condition will remain the same six months from now.
So while the healthcare reform debacle rages on, it appears that American's are struggling to find a glimmer of hope between all the speeches, news conferences and lines of PR-related content that they are being forced fed by the White House.
