During your job search, there will be both ups and downs. Regardless of the difficulties you are currently facing, it’s extremely important not to lose your drive. Below are five tactics you can utilize to maintain your enthusiasm.

1. Identify the Positive – You should determine the optimistic characteristics of this tough job market. These characteristics could be a slowdown in monthly net job losses and upcoming new job incentives for small businesses. Put the past behind you, move forward, and expect success in the upcoming decade.

2. Execute New Strategies – If you have not done so, you could request meetings with hiring managers of an additional 75-150 companies within your desired geographical area. The goal is to discuss how you can create value and solve problems resulting in interviews and job offers. Since you now have a new technique to execute, your motivation, and enthusiasm should increase.

3. Complete All Activities – Consistently complete every efficient activity possible to identify leads in the hidden and advertised job markets. By doing so, you will reduce guilt since your actions are not the source of the difficulties in your current job search. As long as you continue completing these activities, you will eventually land your next opportunity.

4. Acquire Tips from Others – Feel free to read books and articles and/or listen to CDs and podcasts that focus on enthusiasm. Also surround yourself with enthusiastic individuals and find out how they keep their enthusiasm in adverse situations.

5. Celebrate Your Accomplishments - You should reward yourself for completing your weekly job search activities. This could entail participating in activities that you enjoy, helping to counter the negative emotions associated with a daunting job search.
