Entourage Recap: The Final Man Hug
After 8 seasons of man hugs, easy women, and the Hollywood lifestyle, the boys of Entourage are leaving us forever or until their movie comes out. Let’s see how it played out.
The key theme this week was love, whether it is between two bros or a bro and his main girl. Vince starts the episode by announcing to Drama, Turtle and Billy Walsh that he and Sophia are getting married after one date. Apparently, they have already arranged the wedding ceremony in Paris and everything. It’s important to note that this all makes complete sense. And by complete sense, I mean no sense. After the boys reveal Sloane is pregnant with Eric’s child, Vince decides to up his efforts as matchmaker, because bros look out for each other. Vince talks to Sloane’s dad, Eric, and finally Sloane herself in an effort to get Eric and Sloane back together.
Meanwhile, Eric spent most of the episode being unshaven, (because that’s what bros do when they are sad) and working with Vince to remind us all that the floor is really the limit when they do scenes together. In any event, Eric spends most of his time moping around and preparing to follow Sloane to New York so he can be involved in his child’s life. This act will unfortunately mean the end of his partnership with Scott Caan, though it’s unclear if he is ending their partnership because he is embarrassed by how much better of an actor Scott Caan is than him.
Drama and Turtle share roughly the same responsibility for this final show. They spend their time talking to Sloane about Eric and being sounding boards for their other bros. Drama even swore on his career that Eric did not sleep with Melinda while talking with Sloane. When Turtle pressed him on it later, Drama assured him that he “had his balls crossed.” I enjoyed the symmetry of Turtle’s Entourage existence. He went out the same way he came in: completely inconsequential. I look forward to Jerry Ferrara trying to sell me life insurance in 4 years.
Ari also starts the episode unshaven while moping in his office (I will not miss Sad Ari). Ari’s wife shows up at his office to tell him she wants to tell the kids about the divorce and has scheduled a therapy session for them to discuss the best way to accomplish that. Therapy reveals some ugly truths for Ari: his wife believes her life is slipping away and that Ari is an absentee father. They leave the therapy session with Ari upset, but agreeing to tell the kids about the divorce.
