The Runaways "Cherry Bomb" - Who Did It Better Dakota Fanning or Cheri Currie?
In anticipation of the biopic of the 70's girl rock band The Runaways, a video featuring Dakota Fanning covering their hit "Cherry Bomb" has been released. The film The Runaways is due out in theaters April 9, and casts Fanning as Cheri Currie, Twilight's Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development, Whip It) as Robin (a fictitious character), Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford, and Stella Maeve Johnston as Sandy West.
Dakota's version of the iconic single is surprisingly very good, and I have to say I am on the fence trying to decide which one I like better. Dakota's is a bit tame and less gravely than Cherie's, whose voice is like music to truck-stop hooker's ears (I mean that in a good way), but it's still a toss up. I am a nostalgic type, so I tend to go with the originals, but this is a pretty awesome cover. So, we'll leave it to you, the readers to make the final call. Here are your choices.
