Misplaced Anger Over Sandra Bullock Baby Adoption

Man, some people can't win. Even one of the world's most popular actresses can't seem to escape the suspicious rumor-mongering by those who have NOTHING better to do but to complain.
Last week, we learned through a People Magazine exclusive, that Oscar-winning actress Sandra Bullock had adopted a baby boy from New Orleans, whom she named Louis (after Louis Armstrong.) For most of us who watched Ms. Bullock go from the highest highs, after winning her first ever Oscar for her role in The Blind Side, to her lowest low after discovering her husband of five years had been cheating on her, it seemed a blessing. However, for some cynical and jaded folks, Sandra's adoption of an African-American baby smacked of PR and image cleansing.
Let's back up a moment. Why would Sandra, a role model for positive Hollywood behavior and almost universally loved, need an infusion of good PR and an image cleansing? It seems her husband, baby-boy biker Jesse James had been hiding a racist secret from Sandra, as pictures emerged of him wearing Nazi regalia, while engaging in Nazi salutes. Nevermind that not a hint or whiff of this disturbing behavior was ever linked to Sandy, or the fact the picture was a few years old — all that mattered was the image, what it stood for and its fairly indirect association with Sandra Bullock.
Also important to note in the whole adoption story, is the fact that Sandra and Jesse had been planning the adoption for four years, and it was only in January (long before the scandal broke) that they found out they were going to be parents. Clearly, Sandra didn't go to Babies r' Us and pick herself up a brown-skinned baby for sympathy's sake. This was just another bizarre set of circumstances in an already bizarre set of circumstances, with the wholly innocent (as far as I'm concerned) Sandra Bullock and son Louis, trapped in the middle.
