News reports about a man punching British singer Leona Lewis during a book signing in Piccadilly, London are surfacing on the web.

 Leona Lewis

The "Bleeding Love" singer was reportedly greeting the public, and signing copies of her forthcoming book Dreams, when a 20-something man, who'd waited patiently in the long line, punched Lewis in the face right after she'd signed his book.

While the singer was visibly upset and was seen by a doctor, reports say she was bruised up a bit, she did not sustain any significant injuries from her attack. The perpetrator of the assault was taken into custody and the matter has been turned over to authorities. No word on any motive behind what is being referred to as an "unprovoked" attack.

According to eye-witnesses, the singer was ushered out of the room, covering her eyes, while the man who attacked her was being taken away by security, while laughing.  Really? Not cool.

Lewis, 24, was the 2006 winner on British television show X-Factor and had a huge hit with her single "Bleeding Love" and was mentored by showbiz personality Simon Cowell (American Idol, Pop Idol, X-Factor).
