Amy Winehouse Appeals Drug Fine After Learning It Will Keep Her Out Of The USA

Amy Winehouse is very keen to come over here and mumble for us just like she does for her mates back home. It seems that the little kerfluffle she had with the police in Norway (you know, when she was arrested and got to wander around a Norwegian police station and then got sent away with a "No, no, no") is going to cost her a trip to the New World:
Winehouse's attorney Ole Kvelstad explained that accepting the fine was the same as pleading guilty under the country's law and this could have serious consequences when is comes to working in the US. [...]He explained she was interrogated without legal representation or an interpreter and had not fully understood the Norwegian-language charges she was signing.
Kvelstad said pleading guilty in a drug case could lead to her being banned from entering America.
Bergen Police Attorney Rudolf Christoffersen said she was questioned by an English-speaking police officer, who translated charges and explained the consequences of accepting the fine. [...]
If the appeals court allows Winehouse to withdraw her acceptance of the fine, the original charges would normally go to trial.
Amy is due to play the mtvU Woodie Awards on November 8, but it looks now that she'll be forced to stay in the UK while this is all hashed out (no pun intended).
In other news, she is getting some bad press for her disastrous performance and half-hearted acceptance of her award last night at the MTV European Music Awards. She muttered "Thanks" when accepting her Artist's Choice Award, prompting a round of boos, and slurred her way through her hit "Back to Black", after which she had to be helped off the stage by one of her backup singers.
So here's my question. She's admitted doing drugs. She's obviously on drugs. She's already had one overdoes resulting in a hospital stay. She's had a drug bust (it was just some weed, but still). Why can't somebody do something? Um...HELLO? She admits it! They probably wouldn't even have to search her flat, they're probably all sitting on the kitchen counter! What sort of evidence is needed that they don't have yet?
