The story of Britney Spears is so complicated and loaded with meaning it's almost palpable. Just when I think I have a handle on how I feel, something changes my perception.

Prior to the world discovering Britney wasn't in fact a narcissistic sociopath, but rather a vulnerable, troubled, and confused young woman, I was not nice to her. I was petty and uncharacteristically mean. Sometimes I felt bad, but was convinced she needed tough, unrelenting love to snap out of her mindset. Clearly I was unable to see the obvious.

Fortunately k came along and she and many good-hearted readers here made me realize I was wrong.

Britney, I am so sorry I was mean. Deep down I was hoping I was wrong, and I should have been kinder. We hope you get better and go back to being a success. Most importantly, we hope you grow to find yourself and what matters to you the most: your sons.

k's a mom, I am a mom and we know how difficult, wearisome, painful and frustrating parenting can be, but this means we also know that the love of your children can help you heal almost any wound. We are worried about you, and want you to know we care.

Lots of people at this site believed in you, not because they were blinded by fan worship, but because they saw you were in need of help, not ridicule.

We're pulling for you. We hope anyone who hurt you or took advantage of you finds themselves in need of spleen repair. This especially refers to someone whose name rhymes with Man Poofti. If he accidentally runs into the fist of a large, rugged man with glasses and a twang, over and over again, it would clearly be an unavoidable accident.

Also, please try and trust your dad, he's the only person who seems to have not profited from you, surely you know he loves you. Perhaps you can't see it now, but your Dad really seems to be doing all the right things to help you.

Be Well,
Glosslip
