Britney's Father Will Be Back In Court Today
Â
(Any breaking Brit news today will be updated at the end of the post.)
Today is yet another showdown in the never-ending saga that Britney's life has turned into.  The court commissioner is scheduled to make another ruling on the conservatorship concerning Britney's life and finances:
Sources say tomorrow, Trope and Trope will appear at the court hearing. Along with attorney Adam Streisand, who specializes in estate law, and ask that both co-conservators be removed. They will argue that the appointment of Jamie in particular is inappropriate given Britney's bitter feelings toward him and that Britney wants him out. On Friday, the Commish appointed Jamie Spears and attorney Andrew Wallet as co-conservators. Trope lawyers and Streisand will ask that both conservators be replaced. Sources say the Trope firm will not object to a conservatorship for Britney, but they'll ask that a different conservator be appointed. One of the problems with this is (no surprise) Brit herself. In her current mental state, she apparently swings from hating someone one minute, to wanting them with her the next. That might cause a problem for her lawyers in that you can't really trust what she is saying, because she's not in her right mind. They're going to have to show that she hasn't liked or trusted dad Jamie for a long time, perhaps years. But then again, how long has this illness had hold of her mind? This isn't something that springs up overnight, there were probably signs of it for years; however, they were probably excused away or mistaken for something else. And you can't really argue that without a comprehensive mental evaluation, which I'm not sure the hospital has had time to do in the course of a few days. And also, when you have two divorced parents, the main custodial parent can really attempt to poison the mind of the child against the non-custodial parent. Plus, even with court orders in place, it is easy for the custodial parent to keep the child away from the other parent and not let them see each other very much. When you're a kid, and you don't really have a good grasp of what is going on in the real world, it is possible to be easily swayed by slick words and excuses and manipulations. Combine that with Brit's less-than-traditional upbringing and it's no wonder she doesn't know who to trust in her life. Hopefully Jamie has a good lawyer and he can convince the court that having Brit's father as co-conservator (the other one is a lawyer) is the best thing for Brit right now. Unlike Lynne, Jamie has not profited off either of his daughters and their fame. You can tell that just by looking at the two of them...Lynne is always perfectly coiffed and manicured, and even when she's dressing down in jeans and sweatshirt she's got the high-end stuff, not Faded Glory from Wal-Mart. Dad Jamie always looks a bit scruffy and like he shops at, well, Wal-Mart. But at least Jamie is out earning an honest living (he works as a private chef) while his ex is nothing more than a madam, whoring out her daughters to the highest bidder. In other Brit news, X17 is citing "an inside source" (nudge nudge) who says that Brit did not go willingly to the hospital, but rather kicking and screaming all the way. And, in an absence of All Britney All The Time News (since Osmegma has been effectively locked out of her life), they are still scraping for news and have taken to running ads hawking "Live Promiscuous Txt" to pay the bills. Breaking news will be updated in this post. UPDATE #1: One down...the court has decided to put off a hearing on whether Brit can have child visitations in a theraupetic setting...mainly because of her current lodging. UPDATE #2: A court appointed lawyer just told the Commissioner that he does not believe Brit (worth $40M US) is capable of understanding what is going on legally nor how it will impact her life. This could be bad news for Adam Streisand (yes, related to THAT Streisand), who said Brit hired him. No kidding...if they believe she is Greatly Disabled, and can't even be in charge of dressing herself or obtaining shelter, how do they think she's going to hire legal counsel? Also, Osmarmy bin Loopy is refusing to answer the door to recieve his restraining order against Brit. It's also alleged that he's been in contact with her over the weekend, via telephone, in violation of the order. Discussing the Super Bowl, perhaps? UPDATE #3: Jamie and the other conservator want to remove Traipse and Tripe as Brit's divorce lawyers. They're a little too chummy with Osmarmy (not to mention that they themselves wanted to dump her a few weeks ago...until possibly the pot was sweetened a bit). UPDATE #4: I missed the press conference, but thank God for TMZ.
- Jamie Spears and Andrew Wallet are still co-conservators of Brit's estate.
- They do not have the power to fire Trope and Trope.
- Sam Lutfi/Lufti can have absolutely no contact whatsoever with Brit, and that includes emails or phone contact.
- So far, the conservatorship has been extended to Valentine's Day.
- Adam Streisand has no legal basis to say he is Brit's new lawyer. It's unclear his status now.
- There will be a hearing at some point to determine how menally competent Britney is.
The subpoena subject — PR guru Michael Sands. Everyone, including Sands' personal lawyer, Randolph W. Wright, is mum on the nature of the subpoena, however, one source says it is "substantial." Britney's lawyers, Trope and Trope, drafted the subpoena. Expect a dogfight over whether the info Sands has is protected by the attorney-client privilege.
