Oh, those crazy celebs.  They'll do anything for a laugh!  Always joking and joshing and trying to save the planet by jetting everywhere and killing the trees.  I sit here every day and laugh at their crazy antics.

The latest prankster is none other than baby-faced Leonardo DiCaprio, most famous for not being able to hang on to a plank of wood and for making a movie about an airplane (nope, no fuel used during the making of that movie, I'm sure).  Leo wants all of us to reduce our carbon footprints and use less resources, just like he does, as evidenced by this blurb from back in May of 2007:

[Leo] was recently riled when a reporter at a Cannes screening of his eco-documentary "The 11th Hour" confronted the star on his gas-guzzling travel habits. When asked whether he took a private jet from New York to the French Riviera, a visibly annoyed DiCaprio snapped, "No, I took a train across the Atlantic," before adding, "I try to travel commercial as much as I can."

Not content with reducing his fuel output, he has also come out against the constant influx of junk mail in our snailmailboxes, because it's a total waste of paper and it's killing the trees:
In March, The Post reported how the "Blood Diamond" star so hated unsolicited, paper-wasting pitches showing up in his mailbox, he and fellow environmentalist Adrian Grenier joined a movement to establish a national "Do Not Mail Registry." The campaign, spearheaded by environmental group ForestEthics, urges Americans to sign a petition demanding the government make it possible for citizens to ban junk mail, much as telephone cold-callers were stopped with 2003's "Do Not Call Registry."

I can get behind that.  I agree with saving trees.  But what's Leo's latest cause?  He wants to save the polar bears, which in and of itself isn't a bad thing.  So how's he spreading the word?  If you've read this far, you've probably already guessed:
This week, freelance writer Philip Recchia received in the mail a big envelope with DiCaprio's name on the return address space, soliciting donations for the Natural Resource Defense Council's "Polar Bear S.O.S." campaign.
