lindsaycallum.JPG Georgia Rule, Lindsay's latest film (also starring Jane Fonda and Felicity Huffman) has gotten more press for Lindsay's off-screen behavior than her on-screen prowess, made an embarassing $5.8 million during its debut box office this past weekend.  That's just sad.  But we can see from the above photo that Lindsay is showing her greatest asset without a care in the world.  For someone who wants to win an Oscar for their acting talent, Lindsay is doing all she can to undermine herself.  Talk about mixed reviews, from Rotten Tomatoes:

"Lohan's an extremely talented actress when she wants to be and it's roles in films like Mean Girls and Georgia Rule that proves she can be one of the great ones." EFilmCritic
"Unlike the rest of today's crop of Hollywood party girl bimbos, Lindsay Lohan proves once again that she actually has some talent. Why she feels a need to play like she's a dumb Paris Hilton wannabe is beyond me." Eclipse Magazine
"Playing a teenage tramp is not the best way to adjust a degrading public image." Edge Boston

"The casting almost feels like some kind of cruel joke on Lohan." Reeltalk Reviews

Lindsay Lohan is confused.  It seems she thinks that her irresponsible behavior and unprofessionalism will make her a box office success.  Perhaps math isn't her strong suit, but even a first grader could look at the chart below and gauge how her last two years of out-of-control behavior has affected her acting career;not to mention the careers of those film execs who've been willing to gamble on having her in their films.

Lindsay in Full Party Mode Box Office Numbers (check the trend):

  • A Prairie Home Companion (2006) $25,564,527 world wide
  • Just My Luck $28,077,373 (2006) $20,750-723 of which was foreign, UGH!)
  • Bobby $19,446,956  (2006)(only $11,205,901 domestically, YIKES!)
  • Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005) $144,146,816 world wide
  • Total Box Office Gross $217,235,672
Pre-party Lindsay Box Office Numbers:
  • Mean Girls (2004) $128,970,716
  • Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen (2004) $33,128,637
  • Freaky Friday (2003) $160,826,332
  • Parent Trap (1998) $92,108,518
  • Total Box Office Gross= $415,034,203
Obviously I'm not a movie executive, but I don't think you have to be to see the trend.  Lindsay's partying ways went full tilt on the set of Herbie: Fully Loaded where she was hospitalized for "exhaustion" and called in "sick", but was seen the same day across town with her then-boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama enjoying a "day off."  Herbie was the last box office success Lindsay's had, and let's face it; Herbie the talking car carried the film.   In fact, if you didn't count Herbie in the first category of Lindsay's "Party Mode" films, the last three barely cracked the $100 million dollar mark — FOR THREE FILMS — including global sales.  If Lindsay can't put two and two together and see how her personal life is grotesquely affecting her professional life, then she doesn't deserve even the faintest praise being given to her for this latest film. I will say it once more for emphasis, Lindsay has talent.  I have no doubt about that.  But so do lots and lots of actors and actresses struggling to make a living at their craft.  Why studio execs continue to cast this trainwreck in films is beyond me.  It's time to dry up the well so to speak.  Lindsay turns 21 in July.  That's right! She's not even 21 and her liver probably resembles that of an out-of-work Irishmen (no offense).  In the last two years she has squandered opportunity after opportunity trying to keep up with her so-called peers.  If Lindsay doesn't end up dead in a pool of her own vomit, or with brain damage from one too many cocaine binges, or her insides rotted from STD's, she may live long enough to see herself become a has-been.  Or she could just stop craving the wrong kind of attention and decide to work hard for the right kind.  Until then, we can all laugh as she makes a mockery of herself foolishly thinking we are adoring her.  What a silly little girl.
