No Decision Yet In Britney And Kevin's Custody Case
Â
Despite reports that things would be settled today, it seems we'll have to wait until at least Monday to find out the decision of the custody battle between Britney Spears and Kevin Federline. There are many conflicting reports, so stick with me and I'll try to put them in some sort of cohesive order.
First of all, any media in the courtroom were shooed out once proceedings began. In fact, the entire floor was closed off to anyone except essential personnel...and that included Brit's hangers-on, Alli Sims and Sam Lufti. Pretty much all are reporting that she's made no less than three bathroom trips during the three-hour proceedings, during which she changed her hairstyle and sunglasses and touched up her makeup. (btw, did you see her lips in the photo above...they're huge!)
An early break prompted Brit to proclaim to reporters that, "Everything's great," but later when asked how she was doing, she screamed, "Eat it, lick it, snort it, f**k it!" and reentered the courtroom in tears. (Reports differ on whether the remark was directed at an Us Magazine reporter or an Extra TV reporter.) Each time she left and reentered the courtroom, she looked more and more upset, her earlier upbeat mood disappearing rapidly.
One important thing to note...the earlier hearing in the morning was to decide if Brit's testimony later in the day would be videotaped. Kevin's attorney, Mark Vincent Kaplan, wanted her to be recorded because apparently the last time she was in court, her testimony transcript read fine but her tone of voice was extremely sarcastic. You'll remember Britney's rant a week or so ago about Judge "Old Fart", saying he was "mean" and being catty to her (when he said she was being catty to him). Kaplan had a point...if you read the words, "Thank you, your Honor," they sound respectful, but if you say them in a sarcastic tone, the words are anything but respectful. Unfortunately, you can't always report tone, and I don't think you can at all in court transcripts.
But the long and short of it all is that Commissioner Scott Gordon didn't reach a decision today. He extended Brit's visitation over the weekend and said a ruling would come possibly on Monday or perhaps Tuesday. Upon leaving court, Britney told everyone that "I'm fine, I'm okay," before leaving in her Mercedes.
One thing I will say at this point...in researching this story, I became almost nauseous when I read the reports of a certain, very Brit-friendly, very Brit-favorable celebrity website. The super-upbeat and saccharine-sweet headlines made me seriously want to lose my supper. They called into question every single report by every other news-magazine out there, and proclaimed that they had the "true story". Gag, gag, gag. I will say this, they are being good little minions.
My guess (and that's all it is, folks, a guess) is this: Brit was hit today with the facts of life. She possibly learned a few lessons:
- that you can't sass a judge, even if you think he is an "Old Fart"
- that you can't be sarcastic to the judge or the lawyers for the opposite side
- that the court-appointed monitor told the court that Brit ignored her at every turn, and would not let the monitor do anything
- that the monitor was suspicious of Brit's many "disappearing acts" (to the bathroom, bedroom, etc)
- that her many stubborn tantrums over refusing to meet the judge's orders (drug tests, for example) just make her look bad
- that the world does not revolve around her and her selfish desires.
Here is video of Britney leaving court. Words can't describe it. I mean, I know I write for a celebrity site, but wow...these people are crazy. And when Brit finally does leave, she zooms off and just about hits a bus.
