Castro makes a very valid argument as well. In some ways, because of this speculation and assertion by those "close" to Britney and now the media, we (at least the writers of this site) have treated Britney with a much more sympathetic point of view than before these arm-chair diagnoses were made. While we certainly were speculating "something" didn't seem right about Britney, no one (except k, who spelled it out long before People, Star, InStyle etc) were willing to say out loud what many of us were thinking inside: Britney's mental.

Seriously, let's just take the mental illness out of the equation for a second and assume Britney is a fully functional and mentally healthy person doing all the bizarre things she's been doing. If she WEREN'T mentally ill, then the only cause/justification for her behavior would be thus: Britney at her core is a selfish, ego-maniacal, cruel, heartless, narcissistic, uncaring, neglectfully absent mother,fame-at-all-costs driven sociopath.

Gee, if it were me, I'd rather be thought of as mentally ill. Hmmmm.....maybe we're on to something. Either Britney's mental, or she's evil. Which is it Britney?
