Sarah Palin's Strange Scientology Connections - Page 3
In 1998 the St. Petersburg Times wrote about Coale: "Train wrecks, plane crashes, fires — you name it, the avuncular Coale has been there, trolling for business among grieving survivors. Valujet's plunge into the Everglades in 1996 gave him several cases. He has handled politically charged suits against tobacco companies and gun makers. He was a key negotiator of the now-defunct $360-billion federal settlement that was supposed to end cigarette makers' liability for smoking deaths in exchange for cash payments to the government. Coale was perfectly suited for Scientology, a group well known for circling tragedy like starving vultures.
So how did Coale get into Scientology? Drug addiction apparently.
"I did a lot of drugs back in college," he explained. "Into the '80s, I didn't do a lot of them, but I felt that I wanted to handle this problem, and Scientology handled it." They handled it alright. What they did, was put their hands in his pockets.
Circling back to the Coale/Susteren/Palin connection.
Anyone who is familiar with the Alaskan governor knows Palin is a very devout Christian. Palin is also staunchly pro-life and this is a major source of her appeal to the Christian base she so adeptly courted during the presidential race. The obvious question is how will this Christian base respond to Palin being advised by a high-level practicing Scientologist?
That certainly depends on whether Palin and her supporters find out about Scientology's history of forced and coerced abortions. There is currently a pending lawsuit against the Church which outlines these forced abortions by a very convincing witness, and rest assured, the abortion issue is the tip of the iceberg. There's the whole "Christ never existed" belief which is part of Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard's teachings. According to Hubbard:
For those of you whose Christian toes I may have stepped on, let me take the opportunity to disabuse you of some lovely myths. For instance, the historic Jesus was not nearly the sainted figure has
been made out to be. In addition to being a lover of young boys and men, he was given to uncontrollable bursts of temper and hatred that belied the general message of love, understanding and other typical Marcab PR. You have only to look at the history his teachings inspired to see where it all inevitably leads. It Is historic fact and yet man still clings to the ideal. so deep and insidious is the biologic implanting."
