Get my backpack full of survival gear out of the bomb shelter, because I think Armageddon is ready to hit.

Whoopi Goldberg (yes, that Whoopi Goldberg) is actually sticking up for Sarah Palin (and, technically, all female candidates) in this little clip, stemming from a discussion about Palin being a victim of sexist attacks.  Here's a bit of transcription (yeah, I took some courses, I knew they'd come in handy one day):

Whoopi:  It's horrible that she has gotten this much, uh, gotten this much rage in such a short amount of time, and I guess people don't remember that when Hillary [Clinton] was running, because maybe she ran, because she had been out there longer, and it was easier to take those same kind of ugly potshots, y'know...there's something about strong women, or women running, that brings out the worst in people, whether it's on the Democratic side or the, or the Republican side.  The point of the...the fact is, it's crappy.

Seeming to take up the "It's okay to make sexist attacks on women we don't like as long as they're Republicans" mantle, Joy Behar then bleats something or another about how Palin should have spoke up when some knuckledragging idiot yahoos shouted out "Kill Obama!" at a recent rally, doing her best All That Girlfriend Finger Wag in the process.  Whoopi then makes a second reasonable statement:
Whoopi:  No she does not, but y'know what, Joy?  That does not just--I'm sorry, that does not justify crappy behavior from anybody.  Yes, that's what she should've done, but it doesn't make the--I'm sorry, it doesn't make the shirts-wearing [?] on our side or their side or anybody else's side, or the ugly things that have been saying, said, about not them as candidates, but them as women.  This has been going on now for over a year with female candidates, and quite honestly I'm sick of the 'abort this' and 'abort that' and this one's a pig and that one's a pig...everybody, when you meet 'em one on one, has something redeeming.

Well, I wouldn't go quite that far.  I do, however, agree that this crap has gone on long enough, from all sides, corners, and candidates.  Democrat or Republican, male or female, none of that should matter...let's stick to the issues.

Who knows...after some of Whoopi's comments on the show lately, maybe she switched to decaf in that mug.  I look for her to return to her normal self within a day or two, however.

(sorry about the abbreviated clip...I transcribed from Defamer but I found this one to embed)
