Who's Behind Tom Cruise's Massive Image Overhaul, Tom Cruise Or The Church Of Scientology? - Page 3
Pulling Out All The Stops
Going from a joke to a juggernaut in Hollywood is no small feat. Just ask Mickey Rourke. Once a leading man with rugged good looks like Tom Cruise, Rourke fell off the face of the earth only to emerge as a poster-child for bad plastic surgery. Now, after what had to have been an arduous climb back up (including what looks like some pricey plastic surgery) Rourke is finally getting accolades and awards for his efforts. Just this awards season alone, Rourke has won a BAFTA, a Golden Globe and is nominated for an Oscar for his role in The Wrestler. A true Hollywood comeback for sure, but is Tom Cruise hoping for the same?
Well, we know he's doing some major PR all over the globe, including serious face time with fans. Tom even offered a televised mea culpa to Matt Lauer, showing a rare glimpse of humility, proclaiming he's learned his lesson. Heck, Tom even made nice with a German member of Anonymous who showed up in protest gear during a Valkyrie press junket. Anonymous, coincidentally, just celebrated their one year anniversary of monthly global protests against the Church of Scientology which extended to Tom Cruise. Seems one group's not swayed by the new and improved Cruise.
Adding fuel to the Tom Cruise comeback trainwho is a TomKat visit last week in Brazil. While promoting Valkyrie in Rio de Janeiro this past week, the Cruises jaunted over to a private island owned by world famous plastic surgeon Ivo Pitanguy for a little R&R. Pitanguy is the plastic surgeon to VIPs, and while Tom Cruise may be struggling to reclaim his legendary status, he's definitely still a VIP.
There's been speculation as to why Tom would visit a world class plastic surgeon and we speculate it's not the first time he's seen a "makeover" specialist. Photos in the recent months show a much more chiseled Tom Cruise than we've seen in the last five years. Recent photos show Tom sporting a slimmed down physique, but also some extra skin. Perhaps Tom's date with Mr. NipTuck was follow up for some previous work, it might explain why his face looks so gaunt and tight these days.
A Kinder, Gentler Tom Cruise (or softening up Scientology
A little plastic surgery wouldn't surprise us, it certainly fits in with the new and improved Tom Cruise. The new Tom, who says "there's a time and place" for talking about his controversial religion, but has overtly chosen not to, always has time for his fans, especially his female ones.
