American Idol Top Twelve: Good or Bad Here They Are

Anyone who is a real fan of American Idol watches and generally has strong feelings about who should stay and who should go. Week to week we watch these young people perform and develop a strong sense of who has "it" as they say. Equally important, a strong sense of who does and doesn't know who they are as a performer, or show a consistent style. Most of the choices were expected and with good reason. First off, here are our top 12 who made it. Congrats to them!

Didi Benami, Casey James, Siobhan Magnus, Tim Urban, Paige Miles, Lee Dewyze, Crystal Bowersox, Mike Lynch, Lacey Brown, Aaron Kelly, Katie Stevens, Andrew Garcia.

Cut from the pack:

Katelyn Epperly, Alex Lambert, Lilly Scott and Todrick Hall

As far as I am concerned there were two tragedies here. Lilly Scott was one of the best of the bunch. She rocked it out week after week without a sour note in the bunch. She had her own style, was true to it and the judges loved her consistently, as did I. Katelyn Epperly had some rough patches, but she has one kickin' voice with a unique tone, and truly showed us some amazing work. She was consistent all around and has the "it" factor as does Lilly.

Conversely, Katie Stevens never had a really strong performance. She was weak and unsure of her own style and most definitely needed time and training to hang with the big dogs. Paige Miles has a beautiful voice, but again, never bowled us over in any performance. She didn't show any originality or give us a sense of what kind of artist she was.

My prediction here is that we will see more in the future from Katelyn and Lilly than from some of the others picked for the top 12. I can't wait to see the developments from week to week and truly hope that Katie and Paige surprise me.

Tune in next week, and lets the games continue!
