Interviews From The Edge: Ghosts of Eden Rock Gotham
"I met my first music teacher, Miss Kimberly Meckes. She sat with me and explained how important every instrument in the band was and that she envisioned me playing the trombone. It opened my eyes to wanting to learn this instrument, and others as well. She spent a lot of time encouraging me to keep getting better.
The rest is a long story--but without her in my life, I would not be where I am; in an amazing band with some great friends." Benny (Drummer--Ghosts of Eden)
After my recent Blogcritics.org Review of their latest E.P., Ignorance and Lies, I had the opportunity to talk with the members of Ghosts of Eden. I was amazed at the fact that they weren't attached to a record label.
I wanted to learn more about this hard-rocking, Indie band who are unsigned, yet getting radio airplay, headlining concerts and blowing up all over the Internet--just on the power of one bad-ass four song E.P.--and a fistful of talent.
Ghosts of Eden are the hottest band to come out of New York in at least a decade. They are the very essence of a pure, power-driven, down and dirty, rock and roll band. Ass-kicking, drum-heavy rhythms, hardcore grungy guitar riffs, and raw, gut-wrenching vocals make Ghosts of Eden a lethal combination.
They've been tearing up New York with support from GothamRocks and other show promoters. The Ghosts of Eden band site on ReverbNation shows them climbing the rock ladder, currently #82 out of 4,000 bands, on Gotham radio. They've even broken onto the International rock scene after having been featured in the UK's prestigious EspyRocks. Ghosts of Eden are gaining momentum and Ignorance and Lies isn't showing any signs of slowing down. You can check for concert updates at GhostsofEdenShows.

I was curious to know what it was like for Ghosts of Eden, a virtually unknown band, going into the studio for the first time: no manager, no producer, no financial backing, and walking out of New Jersey's infamous Big Blue Meanie studios with an E.P. that promised to take them to the next level on their path to rock stardom. They knew they had something when they went in to lay down the tracks for Ignorance and Lies, something special, but no one could have known that this self-produced E.P. was going to metamorphose Ghosts of Eden into one of New York's most sought-after rock bands--least of all the band themselves.
