MTV's Real World DC Premiers December 30th
MTV has released a trailer for its upcoming season of the Real World DC, set to premier Wednesday, December 30th at 10pm ET/PT.
MTV's tried and usually true formula remains the same. Within the cast we can always count on at least one; gender bender, whether homosexual, lesbian, transexual or bisexual, the requisite, usually quick tempered African American, a cast member deeply entrenched in their religious beliefs, and at least one non-believer or serious religious doubter, a few from small towns, and a few from bigger cities. The formula is meant to bring together the most oppositional characters to create the most diverse household mix possible, and I would be remiss if I failed to mention that good looks are a definite requirement. This requirement is major for the obvious reasons: whatever sparks may or may not fly from the cast diversity, the flirtations, affairs, jilting and sexual tension make good reality TV fodder. The cast this year does not disappoint in those formula expectations.
While on most occasions the formula works and we have a season filled with human fireworks, on other occasions, it has fallen quite flat. So, for the sake of this year's cast; Erika, Josh, Mike, Andrew, Emily, Ashley, Callie and Ty, let's hope it's a winning formula year and that this is a season worth tuning in for.
