Extreme Beer Is Back For The Holidays
Every two years, one beer maker releases their extreme beer; this year it is sure not to be a disappointment. The Boston Beer Company, makers of Samuel Adams, are releasing the beer known as Utopias. This extreme beer is labeled as such because it has the highest alcohol content beer on the market at 27 percent.
The extreme beer is a fermented grain that allows the manufacture to get the right taste and desirable alcohol content. The beer is processed in "barrels for age, then finished in wooden containers like Scotch whiskey barrels and sherry casks." The contents of the barrels, the fermented grains, are strained regularly, and with the strained contents being "used to make malts and champagne."
The extreme beer is not the normal beer for football consumption with a suggested price tag of $150.00, nor is it in ample supply with only 10,000 bottles being released. The extreme beer is more “a cognac-like hit combined with vanilla, honey, and maple flavor.” All beer lovers, this is "a sip if you got it beer." The appearance also gets a different design with a bottle made to “resemble a tiny brew kettle.”
One drawback for this brew is due to an incredibly high alcohol content, there are some states that do not allow it to be sold: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, and Washington. For those worried about MADD, (Mothers Against Drunk Driving), the judgment is reserved on this extreme beer, since it is “properly labeled and not marketed to minors.”
