Organic Strawberries More Nutritious than Conventional Strawberries

A recent study that compared strawberries from 13 organic farms with those from 13 conventional farms showed that organic strawberries had more antioxidants, phenolic compounds, and vitamin C.  

Phenolic compounds have a wide range of beneficial health effects.  One variety of organic strawberries also tasted better and was sweeter.  The organic farms also had a better soil quality with numerous beneficial features.

Dr. John Reganold, the lead researcher of the study, and his colleagues, also point out that other research shows that colon and breast cancer cells had decreased growth by organic strawberry extracts compared to conventional strawberries.

Organic strawberries, and organic produce, are safer and healthier than conventional products.  Although some might argue that they cost more, in some cases the price is just slightly higher. And in this study, organic strawberries had more dry matter, meaning they had more fruit to enjoy!
