While returning from a week long vacation in the mountains, I had stopped at a rest area equipped with WIFI to catch up with the day's headline news. For all things, the news of starving children in Darfor caught my eyes and I felt guilty of wasting money on myself that could have been utilized better.

In this country if you feel for other people's plight you become a socialist. Having no desire to become a socialist, I quickly moved on to other thoughts.

My week-long vacation cost me under $1000 for three persons. It may seem like a fortune to many deprived, but is truly paltry compared to some other possibilities that there is.

For example you may be vacationing at the Raj Palace in Jaipur, India, which is literally a former royal residence now converted into a luxury hotel. It houses a Maharajah’s Pavilion Presidential Suite, a multilevel space spanning 16,000-square-foot that overlooks gardens and an inner palace courtyard. The rooftop terrace provides a view of the city. It is your's for $15,000 per night.

If you are in the mood to spend a few more bucks then there is Hotel de Charme Les Airelles in the French Alps. It has a 5,900 square-foot private apartment on the top floor featuring a view of the Courchevel slopes. Each of the four bedrooms are equipped with a private bath, steam shower, fireplace and a sound-proof screening room. The hotel also offers a Hermes-designed horse-drawn carriage. The cost is $47,406 a night.

For the more classy, there is three-nights Fabulous Cabo package from Marquis Los Cabos in Los Cabos, Mexico that offers arrival at the destination by a private jet. Included in the package are use of a championship golf course, a personal chauffeur, Carlos Santana private concert, an exclusive luxury yacht, gourmet diner prepared by a Michelin chef, and a private helicopter. Rates start at $8.4 million, albeit, you must book at least six months in advance.

If you have money however, truly, sky is the limit for your vacation option. You can blast off in a Soyuz spacecraft for a seven-day space flight, flying up to top speeds of 17,000 mph. You can view stars, the far side of the moon, and the Earth from a quarter million miles away. Of course you need to train for four months alongside Russian cosmonauts, nonetheless, you sure have the time to spare if you have that kind of money.

How much? Try $100 million for sharing the twin seats in the spacecraft.

I am feeling much better already.
