Vigilante Justice for Puppy Throwing Girl
A video was posted yesterday showing a young girl in her teens tossing puppies into a river. The girl, who spoke with an accent, is seen talking to someone off camera as she unceremoniously reaches into a bucket full of puppies, scoops one up and gives it a toss into a moving river.
At one point you can hear her say "Whee" as she tosses a squealing puppy, which twists and turns through the air and then disappears into the water. Internet group 4chan.org has vowed to out the girl and the person videotaping. Similar to the viral video of a British woman who was caught on camera putting a cat into a garbage can and walking away.
In the case of the British woman, identified as Mary Bale, she was forced to apologize for picking up a neighbor's cat, Lola (who also captured her deed on a CCTV) and tossing her in a lidded garbage bin. According to statements, she did it because she thought it "would be funny." But I am pretty sure she isn't laughing now as she is forced to deal with a backlash of outraged animal lovers, including death threats. Fortunately Lola lived. The same cannot be said for the six puppies.
In my circle, I am known for harboring some lustful feelings for vigilante justice. I have always felt that certain crimes, especially those against defenseless victims, should be met with stiff penalties. I certainly would never advocate violence outside the law, but I have ZERO issue with people being outed and turned over to authorities for acts of senseless cruelty.
Some are saying the girl lives in either Bosnia or Croatia and may have been simply performing ages-old pet population control. Apparently, in some countries without access to veterinarians or easy spay and neuter programs, this is how they deal with unwanted pets. Ok. Perhaps that's true. But why then would someone be so stupid or callous to videotape such a supposedly mundane cultural practice, and do so with such glee? Something doesn't seem right here.
