Advice for Kids About a Polka Dot Duvet Cover
Adults that have had the luxury of owning a duvet set know that its purpose is to make it easier for us to redecorate our bedroom and protect our comforters from harms way.
We love the fact that we can finally wash good bedding without having to spend so much money dry cleaning. But put one in front of a small child and ask them what they think it is and they will come out with the most craziest answers.
If you tell a small child that the comforter cover is a luxury item and that is used to protect our comforters, they will think you are talking about a super hero and not a bedding set. That is why I am here to help explain to your child what exactly this type of bedding is special. In this example, I'll use a polka dot duvet cover because kids love anything that is out of the ordinary and cool and polka dots are just that.
Lets start by explaining to them that you are not gonna play twister. Let them know that it is not Santa Clauses sack that he carries his Christmas presents in. Look them straight in the eye and tell your children that they cannot use it to play hide and seek, including putting the family dog in the cover. Make sure to let the kids know that it will not be used to play connect the dots. Show them how to place the comforter in the cover. I know that placing a comforter inside the cover can be a challenge at times but kids will look at it as an adventure. Tell them how it will protect there comforter from spaghetti and Kool-Aid. Make sure to let them know that it will protect them from getting bed bugs at night as well. Let them lay on the bed set and they will see how soft and warm it feels. Tell them to close there eyes and to imagine the softness of the duvet as a big fluffy marshmallow.
Follow these simple techniques and I am pretty sure that your child will understand a bit more about duvet cover sets. If that doesn't work, wear the duvet cover as a cape and pretend you are a super hero and stand over the comforter with your arms folded to your side. Maybe that will help.
