Polluted Groundwater Runs "Downstream" For All Citizens
Did you know that pollution from mining continues for decades, even after a mine is closed? There is another town learning the hard way, and the town is in Nevada. The lessons being learned, and not studied, are the issues with groundwater. Groundwater is still water, and water still moves everywhere.
States and counties tap into groundwater to provide the citizens drinking water across the country. When groundwater is not persevered, clean and toxic free, illnesses or long-term issues start to manifest.
Smoking guns on mining operations have been around for a long time, and fought just as long. The issue with mining is the byproducts of materials from minerals, copper, gold, coal, or uranium, being harvested out of the Earth. What does this mean for all towns/cities, etc., who rely on groundwater? It is the age-old battle of “hear no evil, see no evil, and speak no evil” positions taken from all levels of those in a position of power to do the right thing. The astonishing fact though, the local politicians happen to ingest the byproducts themselves as well, but continue to turn a blind-eye.
This is merely observing the facts. The years of articles and lawsuits, from the reliable sources, speak for the injustices and lack of justice. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has a monumental task of preservation and/or cleaning up multiple sites to include Nevada - possibly. The current economic conditions could likely hamper any acknowledgment and clean-up for the groundwater all citizens drink; therefore, use to water plants (vegetables) and provide to livestock.
How long will citizens be subjected to the byproducts of conveniences, instead of using renewable energies? Can denial still maintain with all the whistleblowers stepping forward?
