The State Department is hiking prices for consular services, including passports and visas, on July 13th. The department will charge consumers $110 plus a $25 executive fee for an adult passport. This is a $35 increase from the current rates.

Aside from higher passport fees, prices for other services are increasing as well. The fee for passport cards will now be $55 for new applicants, and $30 for a renewal. Additional visa pages will cost $82, file search fee $150 and to expedite a passport will cost $60.

The fee increases follow a study by the department's Bureau of Consular Affairs conducted to assess the true cost of processing and issuing passports and visas.

If you have been postponing applying for a passport, or are close to your renewal date, take this opportunity to apply now and save money.

You can apply for a passport at most major post offices locations around the country. Use this link to find the closest Post Office™ to your home or office that accepts passport applications. Some offices may require an appointment, so we suggest calling in advance. Make sure and have two passport photos with you when you go to apply. Cash, personal checks and credit cards are acceptable forms of payment.
