And What's The Deal With Sarah Palin Telling Jokes?
I mean, honestly. Who are the ad wizards who came up with that one?
Sarah Palin was on The Tonight Show As If Nothing Ever Happened With Jay Leno, converging two distinct layers of annoyance for the average layperson. In fact, this type of collaborative aggravation isn't a terrible idea: put all the things people don't like into one show. All they were missing was Brett Favre (oh, but that's tomorrow's show).
At the end of her segment, Palin got up and pretended to be a comedian, telling Leno-caliber jokes (Botox! health care! People don't really know who I am!) and getting the courtesy applause every time. I wish I had courtesy applause.
It wasn't the most unfunny moment in TV, or even in NBC (although given January Jones' appearance on Saturday Night Live, the bar of futility is buried lower than Jack Paar's grave). But while it was meant to boost NBC's ratings and Internet exposure, it was just another Sarah Palin appearance, painfully reminding everyone that she is just not going away. And neither will "Jaywalking."
