Democrats Are Dangerously Fanning the Flames, Says GOP
Are we back to the KKK era?
A brick smashed a window of a county Democratic Party office in Rochester, New York. The note attached to the brick carries a retooled message of 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater, “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice.”
Liberty?
Rep. Bart Stupak (a Democrat) received hate filled phone and fax messages. A voice said, “I hope you bleed ... (get) cancer and die.” A fax titled Defecating on Stupak showed a hangman’s noose with Bart Stupak’s name on it and a message: “All Baby killers come to unseemly ends either by the hand of man or by the hand of God.”
Has god given sole agency to the right-wing nuts?
Sarah Palin declares that we are just beginning; this is not the time to retreat.
Minority whip Eric Cantor accused Democrats, “To use such threats as political weapons is reprehensible.” According to him the Democrats are “dangerously fanning the flames” for political advantage.
Cantor specifically mentioned DNC chairman Tim Kaine and Congressional Campaign Committee chairman Chris Van Hollen for fanning the flames.
Hmmm — let me get it straight, if your windows are smashed, if you get hangman’s noose you are not supposed to talk of it. Keep mum — right?
The Virginia Republican went on to say that he too had been a target of attacks, but kept quiet.
Honorable, sir, but does someone see the telltale sign of Rovian tactics?
I wish and pray that some sane voices in the Republican Party will condemn such dangerous tactics that the extremists are employing.
Whatever name you call it, violence is violence. And it must be stopped before it spreads. The stakes are too high.
