Five Ways Obama Recovers and Wins in 2012
President Barack Obama has hit a new low as his polling numbers, counting Americans who disapprove of him, continue to nosedive. Obama, once seen as an untouchable force in American politics after his unprecedented win in 2008, has suddenly run out of political capital.
Just because Obama is down, don't think he's out for the count just yet.
Although I agree with Technorati contributor Matthew Avitabile on his excellent muse on how Obama's poll numbers will never fully recover, Obama can still turn it around enough to win a second term in 2012.
So what does the President have to do to win the vote and keep his job in 2012? Here are five ways he can:
Cut spending, lower taxes. I know, I know. Obama has been playing loose with the taxpayers checkbook since being sworn in. But as most politicians do, he could see the writing on the wall and look for ways to cut the growth of government vs. losing his job. Move to the middle. Obama is perhaps the most ideologically-driven President since FDR. He has run roughshod over political adversaries and even the will of the people. Ramming through his legislation so far, Obama could gain favor with the electorate by actually looking to compromise with Republicans. But what will his hardcore liberal left supporters do? Another risky but necessary move if he wants a second term.
Repair relations with Israel. Obama's staunch support of the Palestinians in the recent Gaza flotilla scuffle has hurt his support among Jewish Americans and with our allies in Israel. By moving closer to our allies and toning down the support of the Palestinian cause, Obama would appear more moderate, which could help him greatly.
