Want more? How about the 18% of Americans who believe that Barack Obama is a Muslim? These are almost certainly the same folks who were enraged and appalled that Obama had spent so many years listening to the racist and treasonous ravings of Reverend Jeremiah Wright. Cognitive dissonance anyone? Or how about the 52% of Republicans who believe that President Obama probably or definitely wants to impose worldwide Sharia (Muslim) law?
Where the hell do they come up with this stuff? Is Glen Beck using some kind of secret hypnosis beam on FOX News? Can anyone rationally explain the 27% of Americans who still think Obama was born somewhere other than Hawaii? What part of "Here's the freaking birth certificate" do they fail to comprehend? But it gets even scarier. When an acting Air Force Lieutenant General jumps on the birther bandwagon or when the Republican House Minority Leader says with a wink and a nod that he "takes the president at his word" if he says he's a Christian, we've got real trouble.
The old parable said something about the meek inheriting the earth. I think it's more likely the stupid.
