Left vs. Right, In Pretty Pretty Picture Form
Draw a line in the sand and pick a side, cowboy. What's that? We're playing beach volleyball, so it's okay to do that. Obviously, in politics, it's not always like that. Each individual's personal beliefs are so layered multifaceted that it would take quite a while to outline the differences between ... ooh, snazzy!

(Ginormous, readable version of illustration by David McCandless and Stefanie Posavec)
This drawing appears to be a simplistic rendition of what left-leaning people value against those on the right. They always conflict. Always. (Also, the colors have been reversed now. Blue states are no conservative. Adjust your political maps accordingly.)
I mean, it's very neat, but ... are we still harping on our differences? As the creator of this illustration explained, "it coaxes me to entertain two apparently contradictory value systems at the same time." I thought that's why they invented debate split-screen, so you could tell who's wearing the flag pin.
If you're waiting for the illustration on common ground, don't hold your breath. Although I'm fairly certain the video of what both sides hold dearly has already been made:
