Ministers Caught Watching Porn in the Legislative Assembly
BANGALORE (INDIA): Two BJP ministers in the state of Karnataka - Lakshman Savdi and C C Patil - were allegedly caught watching porn film clips on their high end mobile phone on the floor the state legislative assembly on Tuesday. While Savdi holds the cooperatives' portfolio, while Patil is the minister for women and child development.
Already facing the heat over a series of corruption charges, the BJP is set to ask their two ministers Laxman Savadi ,C.C. Patil to resign. The two were caught watching porn between 5 pm and 5.30 pm just before the House was adjourned for the day.
Close-up shots of the ministers watching porn movies were flashed as breaking news on television channels in the evening and sparked a furore. The television visuals showed both the ministers sitting next to each other, gazing into Savdi's handset and bantering on. This is for the first time that the Karnataka assembly is rocked by such a scandal.
The footage showing Mr. Savadi watching the stuff was shot by TV cameramen perched behind in the elevated media gallery. Mr. Savadi was sitting in the front row of the House.
Both ministers have denied wrong doing. Savadi reported to the media, “I was watching a clipping based on a real life incident, where a woman gets raped by a gang of four men and then she is beheaded by these men.”
Later he changed his story as, “I received an MMS clip from environment minister Mr Krishna Palemar, on a rave party. I wanted to see how rave parties are organized, what happens in such parties. I wanted to enhance my knowledge about foreign culture.” Palemar, however, denied he had sent an MMS or that the ministers had his phone.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Siddaramaiah and his counterpart in the Council Motamma condemned the behavior of the Ministers and demanded their immediate resignation.
