Missouri Bill Would Make Abortion Doctors Nosier

Doctor questionnaire / Getty ImagesRight now women in Missouri can walk into an abortion clinic, get their procedure done, and leave — no questions asked. This is unacceptable for state senator Tom Dempsey, who wants to MAKE ABORTION ILLEGAL ... unless the doctor asks the patient why she wants it.

His rationale is that collecting all the answers would help them better understand why most abortions occur. And the law would leave room for pregnant women to not answer at all, or even honestly. "Yeah, I just want to see what it looks like at eight weeks and I'm afraid of ultrasounds."

I fail to see the impetus behind this law. It's not like we don't have any data on reasons for abortion already. And most of these regulations on this satanic systematic fetus killing are usually a backdoor attempt to ban it altogether. This does nothing like that. C'mon, Dempsey. Force doctors to also sterilize the women or something. Incite some outrage and meaningless debate, for once!
