Palin And Oprah? This Should End Well
I've had some pretty bad ideas in my lifetime. Renting Reindeer Games, for example. But thank God I didn't come up with Oprah Winfrey interviewing former Alaska governor/Republican vice presidential candidate/baby name generator Sarah Palin.
They're going to talk about her new book, Going Rogue: An American Life. How is she going to be treated, on a scale of 1 to James Frey? That's why everyone will probably tune in. That and train wrecks are fascinating to watch.
Hey, I'm all for people of ideological differences to sit together and break bread. Just not on Oprah or any other highly-watched television show. Chances are it will not be a civil conversation, and neither party will likely be innocent in the escalation of words.
That said, I hope they do find common ground off camera. They just might actually agree on more than they think. Of course, actually sharing those agreements between commercials is a terrible idea, because who wants to watch civil discourse? That's what PBS is for.
