Courtesy of Hugh MacLeod of gapingvoid.comThink you're pretty good at blogging and social media? Figure you have the passion and authority to drive traffic and get people to pay attention to you?

Andrew Ballenthin, Community Marketing Blog founder, and an international team of social media evangelists have arranged the ideal opportunity for you to strut your stuff. It's the second annual Blog Off Competition.

Starting Tuesday, 1 Dec 09, he is giving contestants access to the Community Marketing Blog for twelve days. You have just 12 days to publish up to 8 posts and prove you can engage an audience (you must post at least twice).

You'll be matching wits against people who've been blogging from four months to four years. Every one of them has demonstrated the ability to engage their audience and show results. Take Sam Diener for example. In four months, Sam has connected with an audience of 20.000.

That's the whole point fo the annual Blog Off Competition. Andrew and his international team are "taking it to the streets" to show:

1. social media can be measured effectively, and
2. how easily social media builds community and engages audiences.

And there's incentive for the competitors. The social media hotshot who comes in first gets over $45,000 worth of online publicity, a blog logo makeover, matching business cards and stationery, and an online marketing package. The top three contestants will be profiled in the 2010 Social Media Directory.

The annual Blog Off Competition gives business owners exactly what they want to know: Does social media work? And how do I measure my ROI?

It's a practical demonstration of how social media works. The competitors are CEOs, social activists, authors, financial consultants and even a product developer. I think it's safe to say most business owners will find at least one competitor who is an example they can follow.

Whether you want to compete, watch the show, or see how to put social media to use for your own business, head over to the Community Marketing Blog and read all about Blog Off II. They're setting the standard for measuring social media ROI and community building.
