CNN Suspends Defenseless Undefendable Commentator For Opinionated Tweeting
Is Roland Martin verified? Is Roland Martin set to private? As the commercial suggests, is Roland Martin "misunderstood" ... ?
No on all counts, according to his Twitter profile, and his argument. Roland S. Martin, @rolandsmartin in Washington DC, is an analyst for CNN and TV One.
This particular Roland Martin, however, is also the commentator for CNN (his picture was on this profile), and is the Roland Martin in question who is now suspended from his position at CNN in light of accusations that he intimated harmful suggestions with regard to a protected class of citizen through inflammatory tweeting from his personal Twitter account on Superbowl Sunday.
This Roland Martin since being ostracized and removed from his job for the time-being, defended the disparaging remarks as being non-threatening but irreverent to the game of soccer... completely glossing over his untimely tweet expressing concerns over fanaticism with respect to fans and their Superbowl garb, and with no protection offered to the "pretty-boy" effect, nor to those unfortunate individuals with more game-day pride than they have common sense, he feels these accusations are “old hogwash.”
CNN, in their infinite wisdom and enlightened through years of media representation of just the facts, suspends and castigates Mr. Martin for his indiscreet but discretionary off-the-record tweeting, and further removes all potential scrutiny of its social media policies by indiscriminately denouncing these tweets as being "regrettable and offensive" in nature. CNN stated that the words used were "inconsistent with the values and culture of our organization," and after careful consideration Mr. Martin "will not be appearing on our air for the time being."
Seems as though someone should evaluate just how many of his close to 98,000 groupies may not be serving the common good...
Boys will be disagreeable, after all... especially on game day.
