Should We Expect Yet Another Facebook Redesign?
Mashable is reporting today that Facebook is testing a revised version of the home page for users, one that kills the "most recent" view as a feature for the news feed.
As most know, users can switch between top news and most recent. Top news basically provides the "hot" content within your network. The most recent news is just that — provides users with the most recent news from their network.
Per Mashable:
In the alternative interface, users no longer have the “Most Recent” option and are instead presented with a “More Stories” option.Mashable is also reporting that there is already a “MORE STORIES sucks – I want my old news back … now” group. Additionally, there's a page to collect feedback on the change. We were alerted to the revised home page when tipster Michael Lain wrote to us of the growing user frustration from those who are missing the “Most Recent” option. Though the subset of users with the redesigned page is small, there still seems to be plenty of angry or confused users turning to Facebook to voice their frustrations.
Of course, most users want their old Facebook back, which is exactly the same cry they had last time there was change. However, those cries went away when users got used to the functionality.
Apparently, Facebookers don't like change.
There has been no official word from Facebook about the new functionality, but Mashable spoke to a spokesperson who said, “We are constantly testing new designs across the site."
Do you see the new functionality? Do you like it? Hate it?
