Twitter Lists Fuel End of Year Listmania
The end of the calendar year never fails to bring a glut of Top 10 Lists, but this year’s list-mania was fueled by the addition of a Twitter list feature, giving list-addicts a new way to feed their list-habit. Listorius, a discovery tool for lists created by Twitter users,
tracks and promotes its own list of Top 140 Lists. And while many of the lists are grouped by subjects around technology, media, marketing and design, there are also some interesting and informative lists that have bubbled up to the top that provide useful links and insights for the average consumer.
Here are five unusual, entertaining and surprisingly popular Twitter lists culled from the Listorius Top 140 to help you get ready for getting more out of the noisy landscape created by social media. And, yes, this is another end of year list that may help us understand what we take away from the bumpy ride that was 2009.
NYC-Street-Food-Trucks, curated by NYTimes City Room, has 621 followers. Who knew street food vendors Tweeted so much or were so popular? The Cupcake Stop, NYC's First Mobile Gourmet Cupcake Shoppe, has 10,280 followers.
StuckInCustoms Community is curated by Trey Ratcliff with 306 followers. It is a list of road warriors and photographers who share travel stories and tips. Maybe they can help you with those new TSA procedures, too.
Los Angeles Food Trucks, curated by Zagat Buzz, has 281 followers. In L.A., apparently, Korean BBQ beats out mobile cupcakes, with Kogi BBQ leading the vendors on the left coast list with a whopping 51,400 followers compared to Sprinkles Mobile, which has a little more than 8,700 Twitter fans.
US-Hospitals is a list managed by Ed Bennett and has 216 followers. Hospitals and health care systems on the list provide health and wellness information. The Mayo Clinic has over 9,500 followers and takes requests from people who'd like to be followed.

Zzbabes, a list of adult entertainment stars managed by Brazzers, surprisingly only has 221 followers. It seems Twitter fans of adult entertainment prefer to follow the stars, but the list of them attracted fewer fans than the L.A. food trucks.
