Baltimore Ravens Angered After Low Block by Cleveland Browns Brady Quinn
Last night's Baltimore-Cleveland matchup on Monday Night Football didn't look to be the most interesting weekly prime time showcase for the league, and the play on the field for most of the game wasn't entertaining as the Ravens played down to their lowly competition for most of the night.
A perceived cheap shot by Browns quarterback Brady Quinn, however, woke the Ravens up. Quinn hit Ravens linebacker Terrell Suggs in the knee during a interception return, injuring Suggs and causing Ray Lewis to demand action from the NFL after the game.
"Heck yeah it was a cheap shot," Lewis snapped after Baltimore rocked Cleveland 16-0. "When you're running down and you're looking at the quarterback going at somebody's knees who doesn't even have the ball. I want to see if he gets the same fine I got or even higher."
Defensive players are frequently fined for illegal hits on quarterbacks. Quinn's hit on Suggs did draw a penalty on the field, but any fine probably would not be handed down until later in the week.
Suggs didn't comment on his injury, though Lewis did say he could possibly miss four weeks. Quinn apologized for the hit after the game.
Cleveland returner Josh Cribbs was also injured when Baltimore's Dwan Edwards hit him, causing him to be carted off the field. Edwards said it was not retribution for the Suggs incident.
