Phillies partyBlog Focus is Technorati's daily roundup of the top stories as told by the bloggers of the world. Each day five posts, no matter how popular or nascent, will be selected by editors to portray a general unscientific reaction to discussion points around the 'Net.

The Philadelphia Phillies breezed back to the World Series after a 10-4 win over the Dodgers last night to wrap up the series in five games. Philly has lost only twice this postseason.

Of course the blogosphere had something to say about their quest for a second straight World Series title today:

700 Level: "You see that guy having a blast on top of that Philadelphia taxi cab right there? Take a guess how happy he is three seconds later? Stupid people are amazing entertainment when you put a camera in front of them (follow the link for video of what happens to the man on top of the cab)."

Phillies Nation:"It wasn’t a good homecoming for Vicente Padilla, who allowed six runs, while the Phillies continued to tack on runs after his departure.  Pedro Feliz and Shane Victorino each homered and Raul Ibanez added a RBI double.  Victorino caught the final out as Carlos Ruiz and Brad Lidge rejoiced on the pitcher’s mound with the rest of the team joining them."

Beerleaguer:"Many of the similarities between 2008 and 2009 run deep; even the graphic preparations repeated themselves, getting two in the can before Game 5, with Hamels on the hill and under the spotlight, followed by a pennant-clinching package in the likely event of a win. The games themselves shared common threads, too, like getting the best of Broxton in Game 4 and the convincing fashion in which they took care of the Dodgers in Game 5. Looking back, even Milwaukee and Colorado became interchangeable first-round also-rans."

The Good Phight:"So, the 35 runs the Phillies scored against the Dodgers were completely unexpected, as the Phillies did it against the best pitching staff in the majors and even though the Phillies' hitters had been slumping offensively for the past month and a half.  Which just makes this NLCS even more amazing."

Hardball Times: "At some point this winter, Ned Colletti and Joe Torre are going to have an epiphany in which they realize that having to rely on Vicente Padilla to save their butts in an elimination game means that they screwed something up somewhere along the line. Torre may not have deployed his troops in ideal fashion in the NLCS, but ultimately, he was simply outgunned. And betrayed by his bullpen, his supposed strength."
