Cavaliers To Go Retro With Kelvin Sampson
Remember Kelvin Sampson? He was previously the head basketball coach at the University Indiana. He's currently an assistant for the Milwaukee Bucks and his boss is Scott Skiles.
But none of that's important right now. Instead, he's reportedly the most wanted man to become the new coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
No, he won't replace Mike Brown. Who's Mike Brown? He'll succeed fired Cavaliers coach John Lucas.
See, the Cavaliers have a daring new off-season plan: to enter a Twilight Zone parallel world where LeBron James never existed and therefore was not taken No. 1 overall in the 2003 NBA Draft. He never won two MVPs or took his team to the NBA Finals.
The Cleveland fans never felt the pain of eating it in the playoffs with the world's best basketball player, nor did they have the sense of abandonment when said player left via free agency. The years between 2003 and 2010 never happened. The 2003-04 season is now "next year."
Sampson, meanwhile, is still manning the program at the University of Oklahoma. At the turn of the century, they won three straight Big XII championships, including a remarkable 2002 where his boys reached the Final Four, banking him a Coach of the Year award.
Yes, Kelvin Sampson is a rising star in college basketball. In 2003, he'll be a fantastic hire for the Cavs, who just won the No. 1 overall pick in the upcoming draft. They can't go wrong with Darko Milicic.
And if you don't believe this era-erasing strategy, at least it's more plausible than sending Delonte West back in time to take Gloria James to the Enchantment Under The Sea dance.
