Chad Ochocinco's Bribery Attempt Costs Him More Than $1
I wrote earlier in the week about Chad Ochocinco's joke, when he amusingly offered a referee a $1 bill to consider upholding a catch he made near the sidelines that was ruled out-of-bounds.
I also noted that a fine from the NFL probably would follow, and sure enough, the prank will cost Ocho $20,000.
Ochocinco also described the joke as a "bribe" in the post game presser, which did not make Commissioner Roger Goodell happy. The appearance of impropriety with officials is extremely serious to any pro sports league, especially in light of the NBA's Tim Donaghy problem, but I have a hard time believing anyone at the NFL could've actually thought this was anything but a joke. Let's be real: any fan who looked at the picture or saw it happen either laughed or got annoyed because they get annoyed at everything Ochocinco does. It's doubtful any were outraged because they thought the sanctity of the outcome of the game was in quesiton.
But No Fun League, you win again.
