Exercise Ball Takes out Sacramento Kings Francisco Garcia
Sacramento Kings forward Francisco Garcia could be out up to four months after breaking his right (shooting) wrist in an unfortunate incident with an exercise ball that burst:
Before the injury occurred, the 195-pound Garcia was lying on his back doing dumbbell presses with 90-pound weights in each hand, according to Kings players.
The Kings are not taking it lightly — Garcia had recently signed a five year/$29.6 million contract extension. Team co-owner Joe Maloof sent an e-mail to the rest of the league, warning against the dangers of exercise balls. The team is also considering legal action:
Maloof said the team is considering legal action against the maker of the ball. Sources close to the team identified it as an Italian-based company, Gymnic although the model of the ball isn't known
Of course this is more serious than last year's slightly funnier exercise ball incident, when Knicks center Eddy Curry allegedly sat on one, popping it immediately.
