Lebron James Thinks He Still Has Fans - Not Anymore
ESPN's airing of Lebron James' "The Decision" is nothing but a fading memory. All that's left now is the resentment, bitterness and blinding hatred that will follow him for the rest of his (hopefully very short) career.
As a Clevelander for most of my life, I can accept the constant disappointments of living in a city which has the distinction of being dubbed "the mistake on the lake." But what I don't get is why Lebron James, a man who was raised here (specifically, nearby Akron), loved, embraced and revered by all, would choose to publicly humiliate, embarrass and piss on the city which has made him King.
All Cleveland has ever done is show him unwavering support, love and affection and in return, Lebron dragged out a decision, one which he clearly made long ago, and for what? To feed his ego? His arrogance? His depravity? His bottomless need for attention?
Whatever the reason for this craven (he didn't have the balls to make the announcement in Cleveland), hateful, narcissistic display of grandstanding, the one thing Lebron said which was hilarious was his reference to "fans." There is NO such thing in existence.
Had Lebron made his decision public a month ago, or even right after the playoff debacle, his fans would have accepted it. Liked it? No way, but if Cleveland fans are anything, it's resilient. We understand the pressure of living in the town that never wins - we know the pain of getting oh so close, but being oh so far. What we DON'T like is sneaky, shady, disloyal behavior which makes us feel even worse than we already do. Not to mention, his pretending to court other teams left the Cavaliers franchise in complete shambles.
