Jeremy Lin dropped a career high 28 points helping the Knicks capture their second straight victory after defeating the Utah Jazz 99-88.

Lin played almost 45 minutes and had eight assists in his first career start as a Knick. He kept giving the Jazz trouble as he sliced and diced through defenders, getting to the paint and scoring on layups. He went 7-9 from the free throw line and on every attempt fans synchronized MVP chants.

On a starless night for the Knicks, Lin became the show. Carmelo Anthony left the game in the first quarter right before dishing an alley oop to Tyson Chandler. Amar'e Stoudemire was after the death of his brother Hazell Stoudemire, 35, who died in a car accident in Florida early Monday morning.

Lin, a California native, is still a mystery to fans and NBA teams in general. The Harvard graduate went undrafted in 2010 and was signed by the Golden State Warriors. He was cut and picked up by the Houston Rocket, who then released Lin to make space in their roster.

After rookie Shumpert went down with an early season injury, the Knicks signed Lin. He has been up and down from the D-League but has earned enough respect so far to be the Knicks starting point guard.

The Knicks have been juggling players in the position. The point guard position is supposed to belong to Baron Davis after his back gets better. Toney Douglas has been struggling and Iman Shumpert has not been consistent enough to be given the starting role.

Lin has brought new life to the Knicks. With his penetration in the paint he can draw attention and dish it to any open players. If nobody is open, he can finish the plays on his own.

Multiple times he hit Chandler who finished with easy dunks. A few times Lin drove to the net and against taller defenders found a way to finish and get points.
