Monta Ellis Could be the Next Golden State Warrior Traded
The Golden State Warriors just traded former team captain Stephen Jackson to Charlotte, but that doesn't mean their headaches are over.
Now, there are reports that leading scorer Monta Ellis is also unhappy and looking for a way out.
Ellis, along with draft pick Stephen Curry and young players Anthony Randolph, Brandan Wright and Andris Biedrins, are considered keys to the team having a successful future, but Ellis has not been happy with coach Don Nelson's inconsistent lineups of the overall dysfunctional nature of the Warriors front office.
So are there potential trade partners out there? While Ellis is still young and is a proven scorer, he does have a bit of an onerous contract, with four years at about $11 million per year left on it. Golden State traded Jackson essentially for two expiring contracts who don't figure into the team's future plans, but Ellis, arguably the best player on the team, would certainly have to bring more in return.
Most NBA teams could use a player with Ellis's scoring ability, but with attendance down and the salary cap likely to go down next year, it's unlikely the Warriors could find a suitable trade.
