NBA Legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar has Leukemia
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, the NBA's all-time leading scorer, announced that he's battling a form of leukemia. He was diagnosed last December.
Jabbar, who retired from the NBA in 1989 at the age of 41, had recently been tutoring young Lakers big man Andrew Bynum until Bynum recently decided he was so good that he no longer needed constant advice from arguably the greatest center who ever played.
Kareem, 62, has also been writing since his playing days were over. He told the New York Times that his prognosis for recovery is good and that he has a family history of cancer.
